Party On!

"On earth as it is in heaven." I have to think that heaven is a pretty fun place. I mean, if we know how to have fun here, can you imagine a party in heaven? All the food is right. All the music is right. Everyone really has a great time. And it doesn't have to end because there's school or work to go to in the morning.

"We are made in the image of God, so we feel a reflection of what He likes. I'm guessing that He likes to have fun. He likes music. He likes dancing. He likes art and books and great food. And most of all, He loves great company. Just look at a sunset over water or snow capped
mountains and you can see that He loves beauty. Listen to the song birds in the yard and you know He loves music. And dainty little flowers and fluffy kittens. He's a big softy!

What I can't imagine is what it's really like on the other side. If we see through a glass darkly, what's it really like over there? What kind of colors and sounds do they have that we can't even take in? How much joy will we be able to absorb?

It's one thing to acknowledge what heaven has to offer, but I don't think we have to wait until then to access some of that. I think we can tap into the Big Party, like a little kid who is supposed to be in bed but sneaks down to watch the grown-ups have fun. He's not supposed to be there, but he is there, and enjoying cake and punch and dancing to the music. David lived under the Old Covenant, but he touched the heart of God with his understanding of grace. He showed us it could be done.

Don't be a wallflower. You won't be asked to dance, you have jump in and dance. Grab some of that joy and...enjoy!
