Epiphany: A comprehension or perception of reality by means of a sudden intuitive realization.
So, I had an epiphany the other day. Driving down the road, I was thinking of writing and getting ideas for writing and where creativity comes from. Then the Creator stepped in and introduced Himself. Oh yeah, God is the Master Creator. He probably has something to do with me getting ideas. So I started thinking about how to tap into God's creativity. I mean, just think about it, our universe is so amazingly diverse. God's really into creativity.
I was reminded of the visions that people have had about walking through heaven and seeing warehouses with spare body parts that are used when we pray for healing. Eyeballs, arms, legs - all new and ready to use, just waiting to be asked for.
Then I thought, if there are body parts for us to call down for healing, I bet that God has warehouses of writing, or creative thoughts, that He's waiting to give out to whomever will ask. When we tap into His Spirit and ask for creativity, He reaches into His stockpile and hands it out. And I'm guessing that it's also true for art or any other creative process.
And do you think that any two ideas are alike? Do you think there's a limited supply? It boggles my mind to think about what those storehouses must look like. I just want to walk through and open things and peek inside. Can I have this? Can I have that? Oh! Look at that! How amazing. We are so finite in our thinking. I bet that God can rattle us with ideas that would really knock our socks off if we let Him.
And I think the key is to acknowledge that God is the Creator. He is the One with all the ideas. If we try to take all the credit, we get puffed up and get ourselves into trouble. If we allow God to have the glory, we open the door to the downloads. So you're struggling with getting the right (write) idea? The answer is a prayer away. Pull out your pen, your brush, your notepad and get started. Once you ask for the inspiration and make the effort to begin, watch out!
