So why does misery love company? Why is a bad mood so easy to nurse? I may not be as young as I used to be, but at least I've learned a few things along the way. One is that I control my mood, good or bad. I didn't understand that for a long time, and I got moody! That's just wrong. One of my favorite pastor's loves to say, "God is in a good mood." He always is. He wants us to be in a good mood as well. Why else would He provide gifts like joy and peace? You don't see gifts of the Spirit in depression or grump. He wants us out all that.
I believe that when we live in a funk, we shut off communication with God. We simply cannot hear Him. We get in those moods and we like it and everyone around us suffers for it. Maybe it's not depression. Maybe it's just a negative attitude. Remember that the enemy of God is working night and day to pull you away from the things God is calling you to, and he's pretty good at it, because we let him.
What ever mood that is negative is working against you moving in the Lord. You can change it, quickly. You control your own thought process. Do whatever you have to. Smile. You'd be surprised how just changing your facial expression can alter your thinking. The longer you stay in the bad place, the more time you loose moving toward your destiny. God can only wait until you come back to a place where you are listening and doing what He is saying for you. So the next time someone asks how you're doing, stop and think about it. You may need to fix it.
