I had a conversation once with a physicist friend about the existence of God. He never believed me, yet he would say the most amazing things. He told me that if a glass was knocked off a table and shattered, there is a probability that it could spontaneously reform and place itself back on the table. He admitted that the probability was less than 1%. A very, very tiny probability. I asked him what he would think if he ever saw that happen. He didn't believe that he ever would so it was a moot point.I read recently that someone told Margaret Mead, "I wouldn't believe that even if I knew it were true." I think that there are a whole bunch of people who also believe that way. An absolute miracle could happen right in front of them and they would deny it.
Why is that? Is it so hard to let go of the notion that God may exist? Maybe? Just maybe? There are documented miracles that happen all the time. People really do get healed and doctors do confirm that the cancer is suddenly gone.
Jesus taught us to expect miracles in our life. Expect them. If you don't believe, you're missing out on a lot. Maybe you believe in God, but actual miracles seem to be beyond His ability? I challenge you to challenge Him. See if there isn't something that He can prove to you. I bet He can. Make it hard. Make it impossible. But when you see it happen, accept it and believe. He did it for you.
