I've been learning that God speaks to us in many different languages, most are languages without words. He's always communicating with us, showing His love. That's exactly what the rainbow is all about. He speaks in the night sky and mountaintops and birdsong. But He also speaks in coincidence. Sometimes things happen that seem odd and maybe we should take another look and see if there isn't something to listen to.
I found it odd recently that my clocks were wrong. One watch stopped completely. A brand new wall clock was twenty minutes slow. My Blackberry was an hour off. Each of them had reasons for being off, but I thought that it was odd that they all happened at the same time. Something about it nagged at the back of my mind and I kept thinking about it. And then I understood.
I have been believing God for an answer to a prayer for many, many years now. I pray the same prayer over and over and expect that someday it will be answered. I know that it will because God said it would. So I'm not praying in desperation of this answer not coming, I'm praying that it will be now. I recently waved this promise before God and asked Him when I will see it. A week later my clocks go goofy. I realized that He was telling me that my timing was off. It's not the right time. I can't rush it. It made me laugh when I heard Him.
Pay attention. If you ask God a question, chances are He'll answer - it just may not be the way you're expecting so you may miss it. And don't expect that He'll send a monogrammed response that day. It may be delayed so you have keep your ear to the ground, and that's what He likes. He wants us to be listening. And the more you recognize when He is communicating, the more He'll communicate to you. It can be pretty fun when you start to see questions, direction, promises coming to you from all over the place, when you learn how to speak God.
