What's going on when it feels like the going gets tough? We all go through it. It feels like there's no one home in heaven and everything we do is wrong. Choosing the Christian life was never meant to be easy. It's odd that nonbelievers can think that religion is a cop-out for dealing with reality. They clearly don't understand how hard it is to walk the walk. It's not easy. It goes against our natural selfishness, which is pretty strong. Walking the walk will make you vulnerable to attack, physically, and or, spiritually. It takes courage and determination. It takes work. So, is it worth it? When you just feel like giving it all up, is it worth getting out of bed one more day, looking in the mirror and telling yourself that you know that you know that you know? There is a God in heaven and He has a plan for you. Yeah, it really is worth it. This time of difficulty makes you stronger in your faith, in your core belief. Just like doing those sit-ups, you have to develop spiritual muscles. When you do, God can take you to difficult places that you wouldn't have survived otherwise, or be instrumental in helping someone else in a hard place. The stronger you are in your spirit, the more God can trust you with.
Just as we don't want to be scammed, God wants the real thing from us. We humans like things easy, so to get past the slummers takes a little effort. Effort that is well rewarded, and not just when you die. God blesses your faith and trust and knows what it takes from you. Yes, it is worth it. It may not feel like it today, but you know the truth so don't give in. When you get to the top of this hill the view will be awesome and you'll be calling people up to join you. Just remember how hard it was for you to get there, so give them a helping hand.
