When You Care Enough to do the Very Best

"...Daniel was preferred about the presidents and princes, because of an excellent spirit was in him." Daniel 6:3.

I think that Daniel had choices. He could have taken the easy road. He could have done what was required of him, punched out at 5:00 and gone home. He didn't have to rise to the top. He could have kept a low profile and done the minimum to stay out of trouble. But Daniel had an excellent spirit within him. He wasn't happy with "OK". He wanted it done well, what ever it was.

And what ever it is that we do, it should be our best. Do what you know to do and do it the best that you can. It honors God and you. Who knows what doors will open when others see excellence in you. Someone once said that half of being successful is just showing up. I'm sorry, but that's not good enough. Even if I can't create a great plan to make things better, I can do what I know to do and do it well. It feels great to know that I did a good job and I feel the smile of God on me when I do. And who knows if God hasn't put me in a certain place to do a certain thing well for a special reason. Queen Esther was chosen above her peers "for such a time as this."

We don't know what God has planned, but if we do our best, He can use us in ways we just don't understand. Don't let opportunities pass you by because you let them. "Be all that you can be" may sound a bit corny, but don't you want to be all that you can be? Be your best and let God do God things for you, and hold on.
