Blowing in the Wind

I was at a prayer meeting recently and someone said, "What ever you are stressed about from yesterday, that was yesterday. Today is a new day." It was a good word. It got me thinking about wind for some reason. Wind represents the Holy Spirit. When the wind of God blows through, all the detritus of our lives is blown away. We can let it go - let it blow.

I saw an image of a sail boat on the bay. When you manage a sailboat, you have choices to make about what you want to do with that boat. You have to set your sails in a certain way to catch the wind or the wind will blow right past you and you will not benefit from it. But if you position yourself to catch the wind, off you go!

But you can't throw the rudder away. God does does not want you to be robot. He wants you in the process of positioning yourself to hear Him. The trick is, use the rudder to catch the wind, then let go! Once you're in the wind, let God take you where ever He wants to. You know that island vacation you've been dreaming about? Just keep your hands off the rudder or you might end up on a "three hour tour".
