Got Your Antenna Up?

Have you ever gotten a great word from the Lord while reading your Bible or driving to work? (I get lots of interesting stuff while driving or in the shower.) -- and then your pastor preaches a message the following Sunday with the exact same word? That's happened to me on more than one occasion. I have a theory about that.

I think that we're not so different from one another. I think that God wants us all on the same page and is always trying to bring us closer to Him. I think that He broadcasts messages to the airwaves and who ever has their antennas up catches the message. I may get part of it and someone else gets another part. My pastor may get the whole thing and then more. I also believe that God gives special words for a time and a place, but I kind of think the broadcast theory works for many messages.

I like the idea of getting in on the same word that people who I look up to and admire are also getting. It makes me realize that God really doesn't think that some people are better than others. I can hear the same Holy Spirit that the famous teachers are hearing. When I hear a sermon about something that the Holy Spirit already told me, it reinforces my faith that I do hear from Him. If that's ever happened to you, be happy! You're hearing from God. Keep your antenna up and your ears open. There's more where that came from.
