Who Are Your People?

The thing with being part of a body is that you are connected to other people, whether you like it or not. You can't, and you shouldn't, try to make it alone. Being part of a body means that you have people connected to you and that you are connected to them. People you rely on and people who rely on you.

Who are your people? Who are the ones who look to you? You may not even be aware that they do. Everyone has someone looking to them, maybe secretly, maybe openly demanding. Be aware. Take care of your people. This can be a bad time of year for some folks. The holidays are pretty hard if you're on your own or have been through some painful stuff. Look around at who your people are and reach out to them. Make sure that they get the help they need or a hug.

You may not like being responsible for other people outside of your real family, but it's all part of how God created His kingdom. Treat your people the way you would like to be treated. I think there are several reasons for doing that.

Firstly, it's the right thing to do. Secondly, what goes around comes around. The scripture clearly says that we will be judged by our own guidelines. God pays attention to how we treat each other. Thirdly, I think living life now is training for a life later on. We see through a glass darkly now. We don't know what real life will be when we leave this place. I think God is putting us through our paces to see what we're willing to take on for Him. Reaching out to your people blesses Him and allows Him to lead you to more areas of blessing.

Don't stress about it. Don't be bossy. Just be a friend. Friends help each other and laugh together. Yes, we should be doing that all year long, but the holidays are a pretty significant time and it will mean a lot to someone.

What's the nicest thing someone has done for you during the holidays? (Yes, I'm asking for your feedback : )
