No Thanks, I'm Waiting For God

There is a move of God happening now that doesn't look like normal Christianity. People who have no background in Judeo/Christian culture are coming into the church and making themselves right at home, thank you very much. They don't look like your typical church-goer. They don't have your typical church-goer vocabulary. They may not even smell like you'd expect them to smell in church. But guess what? God is moving and doing things He wants to do. He's giving revelation and power to a new church. It's His way. If the old guard won't follow Him, He'll lead a new group.

What will you do? Will you be offended at the Word of God coming from that spiky, shaved, and pierced person sitting next to you? Or will you leave and never come back? Are you expecting God to show up the way He always has? Be careful. When you put God into a box, He usually gets cramped and will bust out, messing up all your carefully laid plans. How thirsty are you? Thirsty enough to follow Him when He's wearing leather and chains? Or feathers? What if the music is - different? We have to be open to seeing how God wants to show Himself and not be offended.

I'm not saying to embrace every counterculture radical who claims to know God. If you have the Holy Spirit inside of you, you have the ability to know truth when you hear it. You just have to be sensitive and check. If you don't, you may be missing out. Don't miss out! Allow yourself to be part of what God is doing today. You'll learn and grow and help those around you learn and grow and God will use you. Isn't that what you want?
