Holidays can be really busy. You try to see everyone and be where you're supposed to be then leave to be somewhere else. A lot of activity can be packed into just a few weeks. You probably have a job to go to on top of that. Suddenly you realize that you've been so busy that you didn't spent any time with God while you were busy celebrating Christmas. It can be a sobering thought. I had that thought. Then I wondered what I missed. What if God was trying to tell me things and I wasn't paying attention. (I'm pretty sure that happens all the time.) Have I missed out? Did I lose my chance to learn something amazing? I don't think so. When I asked God, He just smiled. I think that He has a personal message to us recorded in a continuous loop. It just keeps playing until we stop to listen. Only then will He go on to the next one. I like that. He knows me well enough to know that I'm not always paying attention and He loves me enough to make sure that I get to hear Him.
Jesus used to go up into the mountains to get away from people and talk to God. What a good idea. Go somewhere quiet and spend some time just listening. Listen with your eyes closed so you can picture Jesus talking to you because He really is. There's a message that you need to hear, even if you just got the last download. There's so much to learn. Don't beat yourself up if it's been a long time since you spent quiet time with God. The message is still there and there's still time to hear it.
